Minus 6 degrees celcius

Since last Saturday, our temperatures have dropped....people have gone from wearing tank tops and shorts to cords and parkas.....quite a ridiculous change but much more seasonal.....I was thinking of moving some plants outdoors to harden them off but - hey - it is still March and today it is snowing in Eastern Canada ----- the warm weather last week was really an illusion----hey, folks, it is not summer yet!!!!
The greenhouse geraniums are all in bloom and loving the sunshine....if they keep thriving, they should do extremely well this summer when in their big outdoor pot homes.
Last week, in the warmth, I did some weeding in the back flowerbed....mostly dandelions. I also potted up some Greek Oregano, which seems to be crawling all over.
I am concerned about my carnation, named Desmond.....a lovely little red flower.....it looks grey at the moment but I will be strong and not start to trim it.....please leave me alone for awhile!!!!
I haven't started any tomatoes yet but was lucky to find seeds for the tiny yellow tomato plants....Burpee seeds are being sold at Metro grocery store....MacKenzie Seed do not have small yellow tomato seed pks. this year.
They have a combo package with red and yellow tiny tomatoes......not for me....I like separate seeds. Please comply, MacKenzie!!!!
I also bought a Mesclun mix lettuce seed pkg. as well..
That is the news for now....lovely sunny, cool day here today!!!!!!

Sure feels like Spring today!

The temperature has risen today to warmth that feels like Spring! At this moment, 2:15PM on Wed., March 7th, (my sister-in-law's birthday, Happy Day, Karen!) the thermometer on the patio is reading +12 degrees Celcius. Also, today, hubby and I put the greenhouse shade up...the shade is getting fragile as it is 27 years old....and everytime we put it up in Spring or remove it in Autumn, I sew some tears....pretty sure we will have to buy new netting and make a new one sometime this year.
The plants in the greenhouse are thriving on neglect-really - as we have been working on some redecorating in our house and I didn't get out there to look closely at the plants till Monday. Did some cleanup, threw out a peace lily and 2 spiders (that were at my church and not looking great or doing very well), repotted quite a few plants so all in all, it is looking much better.
I have not started any seedlings yet but now that I have some room for things to grow, I will look at my packages and start planting......
I recently found a couple of mouldy nasturtium seeds in the greenhouse and stuck them in a little pot of earth and lo and behold, one plant came through the dirt....amazing....at the top of this entry is a picture for you see this unbelievable little miracle of Mother Nature....
Here is another picture of my tall geranium tree....a pale pink geranium is blooming at the top....I have been growing this plant for about 3 years and in the summer, I put it outdoors and tie it to the fence so it won't blow over or break off.....a shoot came out of the bottom of the plant so today I cut it off and potted it and hope it will grow for me...
That is my story for today...must go and ride my bike on this wonderful afternoon....
